Small defects can cause big headaches.
Chimneys take the full force of Nottingham's weather. Water can enter where lead flashings meet masonry, around the back gutter, at the junction of the roof and chimney, or through deteriorated mortar and masonry above. These areas are easy to overlook until damp appears indoors.
We're roofers first, and we know how important the details around a chimney are to the rest of the roof. We can inspect the accessible roof junctions, explain what needs attention and quote for appropriate roofing and leadwork repairs. Where structural masonry work or specialist access is needed, we'll explain that clearly.
What we look for
- Loose, split or poorly dressed lead flashings
- Water entering around the chimney and adjacent roof covering
- Damaged slates or tiles close to chimney junctions
- Defects in gutters, soakers and back gutters
- Signs that the chimney masonry needs separate specialist attention
Why a proper inspection matters
A stain near a chimney doesn't always mean the lead is at fault. Water can travel along roof timbers or enter from an area higher up. We prefer to investigate carefully before recommending a repair.
Local chimney roofing work
Mapperley, Mapperley Park, Gedling and the surrounding Nottingham area contain plenty of older properties with traditional roofs and chimneys. We take pride in the practical experience needed to maintain these details without unnecessary work.
